Association between cardiovascular risk factors and colorectal cancer: A systematic review and meta-analysis of prospective cohort studies
2021, EClinicalMedicineCitation Excerpt :While several cohort studies reported a positive association between hypertension and CRC [18,19], Siddiqui et al. [20] and Suchanek et al. [21] showed that hypertension was not associated with risk of CRC. Some studies reported an increased risk of CRC in subjects with higher serum triglyceride and total cholesterol [19,22,23] whereas other studies found nonsignificant or inverse association [24–26]. In the present study, we conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis of prospective cohort studies to evaluate the associations between major cardiovascular risk factors and the incidence of CRC, paying particular attention to the strength of the association by individual risk factor.
