Vitamin C protects HL60 and U266 cells from arsenic toxicity
2005, BloodCitation Excerpt :GSH-depleted cells showed the expected increased sensitivity to As2O3, and vitamin C loading protected these cells from As2O3 cytotoxicity even more prominently. In previous studies we showed that GSH-depleted cells were sensitized to the cytotoxic effect of H2O2 and cells loaded with vitamin C were protected.70 The protection of HL60 and U266 cells from the toxicity of As2O3 by DHA loading was likely due to the marked reduction of intracellular ROSs.
