In the last years, this topic has significantly influenced treatment decision-making as the number of long-term cancer survivors has significantly increased with advances in treatment modalities. All efforts are being made to prevent the incidence of tumors induced by radiation. In this review article we summarize the current knowledge about treatment-related secondary cancers with a particular attention to hadrontherapy.
