After a follow-up of up to 24.3 years, the mean survival of patients with tumor stage I or II was 19.3 years and only 4.6 years for patients suffering from tumor stage III or IV. The mean survival of patients who had undergone surgery was 14 years. On the other hand, in patients who had not undergone surgical treatment, the mean survival was only 1.8 years.
