BCAA supplementation decreased insulin-induced proliferation of human colon and hepatic tumor cells in vitro. As shown in Figure 3, we first checked the effect of BCAA-alone or in combination with 5-FU on colon (HCT-116) and hepatic (HepG2) cancer cell lines. BCAA supplementation had no significant time- or dose-dependent effects on cell proliferation (Figure 3A, B), nor did it show significant synergistic or antagonistic effects with 5-FU (Figure 3C, D).
