The present study, which is part of a larger study performed in the Radiation-Immunobiology Group at the Department of Radiation Oncology of the University Hospital of Erlangen in cooperation with us, investigates the forms and mechanisms of glioblastoma cell death and the role of danger signals, DAMP, in particular of heat-shock protein 70 (HSP70) (11), in a radio-resistant human glioblastoma cell line (U87) after radiation or chemotherapy and combinations of these treatments and in various glioblastoma cell lines. The use of cultured cells may be a good model in vitro to mimic the real in vivo situation.
